Travel Medical insurance, or often called International Medical Insurance or International Travel Insurance. This type of plan comes in two forms. 1) is the “short-term” plan which is from a few days up to 6 months. This plan is usually a guarantee-issue policy regardless of your health status. It is a comprehensive medical insurance policy providing hospital coverage, outpatient, Rx, lab and X-ray along with emergency evacuation and repatriation. Ideal for anyone traveling, vacationing, studying or working outside of their home country.
The 2nd type of Travel Medical insurance is the “long-term” policy. This policy is designed more for the expatriate or employee who is working or living abroad for longer than 6 month. This also works well for the permanent expat or global family who lives abroad, or in several locations on a permanent basis. This also is a very comprehensive medical policy which the member has access to a very large international network of doctors, specialists and hospitals.
Trip Cancellation, Trip insurance, Trip interruption or Vacation insurance. This policy includes medical coverage, emergency evacuation benefits, but also includes reimbursement amounts for costs associated with your trip or vacation. Such as; damages or lost luggage, reimbursement of your total prepaid vacation costs if you become ill or need to cancel you trip. Trip interruption is if part of your trip is cancelled because of your illness, injury, or if a vendor cancels their service during your trip. This policy is very popular and specifically designed for cruises and vacations outside of your home country.
This coverage becomes extremely important when you are sick or injured and need immediate medical attention but the medical facilities in the area cannot properly care for you. This coverage benefit is typically used for air travel to the nearest hospital, transportation to a different country or even to return to your home to be cared for. The cost for a medical transport can easily reach $80,000 to $100,000, so be sure your travel insurance policy includes emergency medical evacuation coverage. This coverage is ideal for anyone traveling outside of their resident country for work or play.
Kidnap and Ransom (K&R)
Kidnap, Ransom and Extortion insurance or K & R provides reimbursement for expenses incurred in the wake of kidnap and ransom, extortion bodily injury, detention and extortion property damage.
Corporations with global operations should consider protecting their staff against the risk of kidnap, extortion, detention and hijack.
Kidnap & Ransom Insurance is used by:
- Missionary Groups
- Financial Institutions

Kidnap and Ransom Insurance has been developed to reimburse the policy owner for the expenses incurred with a Kidnapping. A policy owner will apply for coverage to protect themselves against a loss caused by a Kidnapping or an Extortion.
